WHAT THE GATHID AUTHORITY MAP MODELS

Access reviews stop at the account. The Authority Map keeps going.

Most access review programs answer one question: does this person still need this account? The Gathid Authority Map starts there, then models everything that account, and everything around it, can actually do.

Where access review stops

For years, identity governance has rested on a single relationship: a person in HR, matched to an account in a system. Confirming that relationship is necessary. It is also where most programs stop.

Authority does not stop there. An account sits inside groups and roles. Those carry permissions. Permissions allow specific actions inside each application. Service accounts, credentials and AI agents act alongside people. And the same identity may reach servers, cloud resources and buildings. Exposure lives in what each of those lets someone do, and in how they combine.

Knowing who has an account is not the same as knowing what they can actually do.

What the Gathid Authority Map models

One model, built from the systems you already run, relating every object below within each system and across them.

People & their accounts

The workforce as it really is: employees, contractors, vendors and visitors, their departments, sites and managers, and every joiner, mover and leaver event. Each person is connected to the accounts they hold in every modelled system, including the accounts that outlive their owner.

How access is granted

Groups, nested groups, roles and role assignments; permissions, permission sets and policies. The structure through which authority is actually handed out, rather than the structure that an organizational chart suggests.

figure-3

What access lets someone do

The actions a permission allows inside each of your applications: create a supplier, approve an order, release a payment, create a user, reset a password and more. Plus, the applications themselves, as objects that can hold and grant authority.

figure-4

Non-human authority

Service accounts, integration applications, bots and AI agents, and the workload identities issued by modern infrastructure. Their credentials, including API keys, client secrets and certificates, with rotation state and ownership. The short-lived tokens via which authority is exercised at runtime.

figure-1

Cloud & infrastructure

The cloud functions and instances that carry a role; the resources they act on, such as storage, keys and secrets, and the policies attached to them; the organization-level policies and boundaries that cap what any identity can do; and the trust relationships that let one identity become another. On servers, local identities and administrative privilege.

figure-2

Physical & operational access

Cardholders, badges, access levels, doors and readers across sites, and access to operational technology. The building is part of the authority picture, rather than a completely separate entity.

figure-3

Ownership, delegation & time

Who owns each identity and credential, who approved it, and what authority one identity has delegated to another. All of it held over time, so drift and accumulation are measured rather than assumed.

Why the breadth matters

One leaver, four systems. HR records the departure. The identity provider disables the account. The CRM, a critical business application, still sees an active user who can reset passwords, and the building access system still opens the door. Only a model that relates all four can show it.

One supplier, three systems. One system creates the supplier, another approves the order, a third releases the payment. Each grant passes review. Together they form an Authority Pathway no single review can see.

One AI agent, many credentials. An AI agent holds credentials in several systems, none of which knows about the others. Its real reach is the sum of all of them.

Within each system, and across them

Authority is not only a relationship between systems. It lives inside each one: in what a single role allows, in which permissions a single group carries. The Gathid Authority Map models both, so a question about one application and a question about the whole enterprise are answered from the same model, with the same evidence.

How Gathid fits

Alongside your stack. Gathid works with the identity, governance and privileged access platforms you already own, and makes them more precise.

Read-only by design. Gathid gathers data through secure, read-only connections or files you supply, and changes nothing in your systems.

Ask in plain language. Your choice of AI assistant can query the Authority Map through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), under each user's own permissions.

People decide. The model reasons; every corrective action is ticketed and approved by a person.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of Gathid?

Gathid streamlines the decision-making process surrounding identities and their access in your business, providing a solution that helps our clients to verify that only the right people have access.

We redefine identity security and governance with a unique approach. Our patented graph technology seamlessly connects identity and access system data from all corners of your enterprise – HR, IT, Security, Finance, Business, you name it.

No matter where you are in your identity and access journey, Gathid is here as a game-changing digital identity and access modeling software solution.

Does Gathid interact with any system?

Companies typically have more than one ‘source of truth’ when it comes to knowing who is in their workforce. Employees, contractors and students are managed in one or many HR, IT and Accounts Payable systems and across multiple and separate corporate business units.

Gathid collects access data from groups, applications, legacy systems or files shares. Even your physical and operational technology access data can be monitored.

» Active accounts for terminated staff
» Accounts that have non-expiring passwords
» Account ownership
» Access to file shares
» Role change monitoring

How does Gathid differ from traditional IAM?

Identity and Access Management (IAM) deployments are often delayed and miss initial expectations, due to the complexity in required systems integrations and the rigid requirements of RBAC role definitions.

Gathid offers unique value in the ability to leverage existing files and API connectors to receive read-only identity (HR/IT/Role) and access (Accounts and privileges) data. It rebuilds an identity model every day, allowing you to visualize and track changes automatically.

Gathid is here to simplify and complement the most complex portions of any IAM implementation.

Why are User Access Reviews important?

User access reviews play a pivotal role in maintaining data security and ensuring compliance. They act as a protective shield, permitting only authorized individuals to access critical data and systems while reducing the risk of data breaches.

With Gathid, our innovative platform automates user access reviews, making the process efficient and accurate. Our system automates your user access reviews and provides precise user access data that you can trust, all from a single source.
